Slay the Spire II enters early access on Steam on the 5th March 2026. Developed and published by: Mega Crit.
Slay the Spire II is shaping up to be a major evolution of the original roguelike deckbuilder, expanding its systems, cast, and structure while keeping the core climb‑the‑spire loop intact.
For 1,000 years, the Spire lay dormant, its secrets buried and its horrors forgotten. Now, it has reopened, hungrier and more dangerous than ever, devouring all who dare to ascend.
New perils demand sharper strategies, relentless cunning, and unwavering resolve. Outwit the Spire’s brutal trials and uncover the truths hidden at its peak.
Will you attempt the climb alone or enlist the aid of your fellow adventurers?
Yes, you read that correctly, “fellow adventurers”! This is a huge shift for the series, which is still listed as a single-player game. Mega Crit has confirmed online co‑op for up to four players from day one of Early Access. This opens the door to shared runs, coordinated strategies, and a very different pacing from the original.

What’s New?
- New Cards, Events, and Enemies
The developers promise a large expansion of content. Fresh card archetypes, new enemy types, and new event encounters designed to push players into creative, sometimes broken builds. In fact, Mega Crit openly encourages players to “break the game,” saying that discovering busted combos is part of the fun—and gives them an excuse to nerf things later.
- New Environments and Visual Style
The sequel features updated art direction and a more animated presentation, showcased in the reveal trailers. Some of the animation is polished enough that outlets have compared it to a standalone TV show.
- Online Co-Op
Brave the ascent on your own, or play with up to 4 players and face the Spire together in the all new co-op mode. Discover multiplayer-specific cards and powerful team synergies.
