Mixtape is a narrative adventure game developed by Beethoven & Dinosaur, the BAFTA award-winning studio behind The Artful Escape. Mixtape blends teenage nostalgia, music‑driven storytelling, and dreamlike vignettes inspired by classic coming‑of‑age films.
About the Game
On their last night together, three friends embark on one final adventure. Play through a mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation.
Set in 1990s Northern California, en route to their final party together. Three friends get drawn in by a perfectly curated playlist. This playlist pulls them into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them.
Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland. They will play through a mixtape of joyful gameplay. It’s the greatest hits of the teenage experience, from the first kiss to the last dance.
The playlist features music from DEVO, Roxy Music, Lush, and The Smashing Pumpkins. It also includes tracks from Iggy Pop, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Joy Division, the Cure and many more.
Gameplay
Mixtape is a single‑player narrative adventure. You play as Stacy Rockford, a teenager who dreams of becoming a music supervisor. The gameplay mixes exploration, music‑driven sequences, flashback vignettes, and light interactive storytelling.
You will play through the scenes rather than watch. Each memory has its own mechanics, tone, and pacing, creating a “playlist” of different gameplay styles. These include: third‑person exploration, environmental storytelling , light puzzle‑like interactions, character‑focused moments. Activities range from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park. They can also hit baseballs and put on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car.

Mixtape will be released on the 7th May 2026 on the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam, and Epic Games Store
